"Mansplaining" is moronic and childish. The problem is communicating with people isn't trivial when you're trying to educate them.

As someone whose worked in IT for forever -- it's impossible to know if someone is tech savy or tech retarded or somewhere in the middle.

You'd like to think it's easier to talk retarded and let them tell you they get it but that's not true. They'll either get offended or wish to know well beyond their intellectual capacity or their time. I once had a user who didn't know how to copy/paste a file wish, nay demand, I explain why a hard drive can "just die". But they also didn't want me to tell them in "techie terms". Well, I'm sorry there isn't a possible way. We have to have a common vocabulary for me to explain it on the level you want me to explain it.

Mansplaining is that person but them being a misandrist about it and being upset that I'm a man explaining it to them. It has nothing to do with me dumbing it down. And, worse, I could assume they would understand and not dumb it down and then I'd be maliciously arrogant. It's a situation designed for you to lose no matter what you do. It's sexist as fuck, against men.

I've yet to ever meet a kind person who has ever used them term "mansplain". Ever. It's always sexist women. About half of them are simply angry they are going through a divorce and want to lash out.

Perhaps when accused of "mansplaining" the response can be "it beats the alternative."

Different communication styles. Women vent among themselves amid gushing sympathy from their female peers but don't necessarily do it looking for solutions. It's why counseling processes, largely designed for a female audience, are very much a sit down, huddle and weep process.

The male response to stress or trauma tends towards action. Their entire being screams "DO SOMETHING". Solve the problem. Men suicide when they're painted into a corner, have no options or choices, have nowhere to go, when there's NOTHING they can do.

Much of what is deemed "mansplaining" is a consequence of this need to fix what's gone wrong and a fundamentally active nature.

I like to ask the question: "Are you so stupid that you need me to mansplain it to you?" or just "Do you need me to mansplain it to you?" That is way more condescending and insulting than just mansplaining.
