Terry Crews, Corey Feldman, And Why The Anti-Harassment Movement Is Ignoring Them

I wrote this shortly after seeing Samantha Bee invite Terry Crews to join her in an PSA about harassment. It genuinely surprised me because Crews has been trying to raise awareness of this issue ever since the anti-harassment movement began, but he keeps getting ignored or marginalized. Same for Corey Feldman, who has been trying for years to expose the abuse of young boys in Hollywood. It got me thinking about why the abuse of men and boys keeps getting overlooked or ignored by this movement and while I don't claim my theory is definitive, I think I know why it plays out this way. It's not right, but seeing Crews team up with someone like Samantha Bee on this issue is a small bit of progress in my opinion.

Ive been sexually harassed by a female in the work place to the point I had to get HR involved. It was literally the definition of sexual harassment regarding unwanted sexual advances. When I realized what was happening I had to talk myself into going to HR.

I’ve also been sexually assaulted in public by a gay man . I felt as though I had no recourse as beating up a gay man would probably have ruined my life.

I’m 6’1” and 200 lbs and I don’t feel like people take me seriously when I tell them these things happened. For some reason sexual harassment and assault only seems to apply to women.

I think these things happen way more than is reported.

The #Metoo movement has gotten more attention in a day that Corey Feldman has managed in thirty years. This should say something about our priorities.

Meh, Terry Crews is part of the Listen And Believe mob. He can kiss my ass. And Feldman threw his cred away by asking for a million dollars.
