Just some quick google facts: The WNBA has on average a 10 million dollar net loss (since '96), and the NBA subsidizes them and sustains the loss every year.

In all seriousness, what could the WNBA do to make themselves more popular? The first thought that came to my head was "Make a movie". So I googled it, and the only movies that came up were Juwanna Man (Rom/Com), Love and Basketball (Romance), and Double Teamed (Family/Disney). If the WNBA wants to be taken serious (at least when it comes to marketing and the movie industry) they would have to step away from the romance genre (comedy as well, or else it makes them look like a joke). How about an intense sports drama akin to "Remember the Titans"?

Or maybe it doesn't have to be the WNBA, but the very least a college level basketball team. If I can go in the theaters and happily watch a movie about an all female A Capella group (Pitch Perfect), then Hollywood can certainly make a good female basketball movie.
