No absolutely not. I went through something similar recently. I was trying to be a better example of what a traditional wife should be and my life became an excessive list of rules from all over the place. It was too much to live up to and some of the stuff I think normal men would not even notice. I had to get to a balanced act and I think you do as well. You look at her life and ultimately find it boring, meaning: that’s not the life for you. So what ultimately makes you feel like SMV is getting in the way of your happiness?

Not at all! As someone who just turned 30, this feeling hits me from time to time. I will say though, please take heart as this feeling diminishes more and more over time with life experience.

I’m not where I thought I was going to be at this age, but it’s ok. I am SO much better and healthier physically and mentally compared to several years ago. As you get older, you learn the difference between what you can control/change and what you can’t. I still catch myself playing the ‘comparison game’ more than I’d like to admit, but then I realize there are always going to be smarter, better, prettier, more well put together people. But by the same token, I’m sure people look at you and think the same thing you feel about your friend! As long as we’re better than we were yesterday, then that’s all we can ask for.

It can be tough, but keep your head high. Take action on things you can control (diet, exercise, makeup and skincare routine, etc.) and don’t worry about the things you can’t. Just focus on being the best that you can be. It does get better.

Ugh, I had an experience this past weekend that relates to this. I’m in my late 20s, and I was chatting with a woman in her early 20s that I met through a friend. This woman was STUNNING. Perfect body, gorgeous face. She told me she doesn’t work out, never has, never will. My jaw basically dropped because she has a super small waist and big butt and all that. I work out all the time just to keep the slightest curve to my butt and keep my waist cinched. The next day I found myself in a mindset of “that’s it, I’m never working out again, what’s the point”.

I’ve struggled with this feeling throughout my life to be honest, but at the end of the day not working to improve my looks makes me feel even worse, so I’ve been trying to find the joy in that stuff and enjoy the journey.
