I’m not at all surprised either. The body keeps score, whether it experiences race-based trauma, sex-based trauma, trauma from abuse, etc.

Living under patriarchy is like living under white supremacy.

Very interesting study though, I want to read more about it.

Even 1 year without interacting with men any more than I have to has been amazing for my physical, mental and emotional health. The more women friends I make and the more women-only spaces I remain in, the better I feel.

The whole “higher blood pressure” in a patriarch society is so true! My grandmother has lived with her emotionally and verbally abusive husband (my grandpa) for decades. She’s had tons of high blood pressure and anxiety only when she’s around him. Men aren’t worth that!

This is interesting, but you've got to be careful when studying communities like this because genetics can really bias results. Not suffering every day sexism is probably improving the health of these women, but we don't know to what extent.
