I know that this sub is one that aims towards egalitarianism; everyone should generally be treated the same regardless of their sex and gender. I support this too, hence why I'm here. But I've started to wonder what is the best way to go about this. I've recently been think that maybe we should take a page out of feminism's book and star encouraging men supporting other men, the same way feminists encourage girls supporting girls.

One of the things that I personally envy about women is their social support system. Not just emotionally but in pretty much all aspects of life. There's a strong female solidarity that is both present between women and also encouraged, by feminists as well as other parts of society, who cheer on "girls supporting girls" and "Girl Power!".

You do get men looking out for men but that's not usually because of their gender but other factors like a sense of chivalry/ doing the right thing. Outside of that, men are generally not as kind to their fellow men. In fact I remember a study showing that men have don't even have an in-group bias towards men but more of an out-group bias towards women, whilst women have an in-group preference towards themselves. No gender is inclined to view men in a positive way.

The way men currently socialize/ are encouraged to socialize tends to be a lot more competitive and abrasive compared to the way women socialize, which ends up excluding a lot of un-masculine/ non-gender conforming men. I also think this is one of the reasons why a lot of men are more drawn towards feminism/ menslib that the MRM is due to the fact they are alienated from men as a gender. They don't like to associate with the male gender due to feeling excluded from or feeling that it doesn't reflect them or are ashamed to be one.

Encouraging a sense of male solidarity, that includes all types of non-toxic male behavior instead of just traditionally masculine ones, could help to fix this and help solve a lot of male issues mentioned above. When it comes to men's mental health, people (primarily feminists) often insists that that the problem is that men don't talk enough about their feelings and that they need to open up and just talk. I think that men don't really need to talk as they need to connect, preferably with people who understand what they're going through. If men could talk to men the same way women could talk to women about their problems issues then I think a lot of male problems in regards to loneliness and suicide would be alleviated.

I know some people might say that we should be trying to break apart gender tribalism to bring people together, and that this would just make things worse, which is a possibility that needs to be considered. But I think that encouraging a bit of leaning in among men in regards to male issues would be a good thing. I'm not advocating for full on male supremacy or anything like that.

Sorry for the long essay, I just had a lot to say.

So what do you guys think? Is encouraging male solidarity a good idea, or is a terrible one. Feel free to be honest and tell you what I think.
