Ok, I get what you're saying, I don't think that accurately captures the status quo. From what I see, the media serve to report things that gets the most reactions out of people. People with strong, vocal opinions about what's going on around then draw the most attention especially when they include buzz words like equality, fighting the patriarchy, BLM, men are trash/ kill all men, pride and any other current popular topic.

Virtue signalling is a dominant role in society and those that don't want to get involved in it are submissive to them because they just want to live their life peacefully. This isn't to say that oppression doesn't exist, but rather the way that it's brought up is not constructive to society and causes people to close off from conversations that need to be had with cool heads.

think of it like a family with a tyranical father, just because he rules does not mean that all his sons are treated well nor all his daughters poorly, it means his perspective is given privilege, and submitting to that perspective is imperative to your role & how you are treated within the family.

So men benefit from patriarchy, that's why we need to give women free shit...but patriarchy also doesn't benefit men?

it of course goes without saying that a certain kind of femininity has privilege in society aswell and that it also enforces these stereotypical societal roles to a similar degree, but the main difference is one has a dominant role in society and the other submissive.

Feminism is not "submissive." It is the dominant ideology in society. Men's rights are ACTIVELY MOCKED.

I wasn't, honestly I was just hoping to have a nice conversation to help me understand a view thats different from mine.

I like to think I did get some stuff to think about in your last comment, mostly about your characterization of virtue signaling, and how you seem to relate it specifically to the vocal left, and less so the vocal right. That it seems that from your point of view, loud left leaning movements are forcing the conversation in directions that at the same time as it forces you out of the conversation in unproductive ways, it also forces you to kowtow to their political positions lest you'd be robbed of your piece of mind.

And even if I don't share your point of view, and I wasn't able to continue the conversation as quick as I had liked, I appreciate your perspective because it might help me understand similar positions and people better, I enjoyed our talk, and I hope you didnt see it as just some leftist asshole copypasting words at you.

Hi, sorry life happened, and kind of still is. But a lot resources i have access through is because of my university library, despite studying physics I can access the humanities through literature, but one of my favourite reddit places for left leaning male centred discussion is r/menslib.

As for the vocal right, Im not american, and so not very familiar with your media, but generally speaking I think both dissidents and supporters of the political parties that exist if outspoken generally can be counted towards the vocal left/right, and the american vocal right that ive heard of is stuff like the proud boys, that unite the right thing, the rightwing conspiracy media(ie alex jones/breitbart), the #nomask peeps, maga and such. A large part of the us vocal right that I can follow from where i live is sensational idiots or fringe extremists.

I'm actually double majoring in math and physics but our library is open to all majors. I don't particularly like menslib due to their feminist philosophies. Men bash each other for calling women hot and they negatively label a lot of people in their posts. I'm not actively spreading my beliefs because I haven't learned enough to confidently argue them. All I have are my lived experiences, while valid, are quickly discredited in favor of something else. If I started sharing my beliefs publicly I'd be basically asking for a fight as I found out with my ex. It gets to be quite time consuming and unproductive.

Most people imo that believe really strongly in their beliefs shouldn't be entitled to them as they never challenge them. They just want it to be true and shut down everything they disagree with. Whether they're right or wrong, it's still counterproductive to achieving progress. I may not know much about politics, but I can tell when someone is being a bully.
