Many possible causes have been suggested, including existing health inequalities, such as higher levels of heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease and heart disease among the BAME population. BAME families are also more likely to live in more crowded, multigenerational households than their white counterparts, increasing individuals’ risk of exposure. Thirty per cent of the UK Bangladeshi population are considered to live in overcrowded housing, compared with 2% among the white British population. Fifteen per cent of black African people live in crowded conditions, as do 16% of Pakistanis.

I love how they answered their own dumb questions in the article but insist that an 'investigation' needs to be done. This is virtue signalling at it's finest and how they get the victim complex rolling for minorities there are definitely factions within the left who want to paint the UK as a racist country somehow but nothing is sticking because of how even by their standards the average member of the public is utterly terrified of them to begin with.

That's not enough though, I think they want to get shit going to the level that America has it and the activists are kind of jealous they have nothing to complain about. I bring this up because if anyone remembers awhile back we had our own home grown attempt at a BlackLivesMatter protest where they blocked off roads to Heathrow Airport. These people are all race baiters and this isn't really about the virus itself, they're going to use the investigation as a way of claiming that the UK government was discriminating against minorities.

The really sad implicit commentary on society is how perfectly unsurprising all this is.

Where are the feminists and progressives complaining about the double standard? Where are the feminists and progressives who even acknowledge having one? Why is it that I already know the answers to these questions??

Thanks to the Guardian and others, I have lost all respect for the Left now.

I'm not convinced you are not getting triggered for nothing, in this case.

Men have generally weaker immune systems. Beside, men have à fairly different biology from women. To have men and women react differently to a disease is not that surprising.

On the other hand, the biology between a (wo)man of one race or another isn't that widely different. There are some subtleties that make a handful of diseases or medications react differently depending on race, but it isn't that common.

So while a difference in how men and women are affected can probably be accounted for by a lot of biological factors, a difference between races might be much more worthy of investigation. It could be clue to some protective factors we haven't thought about yet, for example. Maybe people of a given ethnicity are less likely on average to get it because on average they are more likely to have some cultural behavior that is helpful, for example.
