The article clearly said that the woman and her husband divorced, and before the divorce, they had a written agreement saying that in the event of a separation, the embryos couldn't be used by one without the express permission of the other.

They made a binding agreement. The court enforced it.

I’d heard about this case before, when the previous court decided in her favor. Glad the appellate court saw reason and reversed the decision.

It would be preferable that the embryos be destroyed, if that’s in accordance with the wishes of either party, but I’m guessing their disagreement left the court with no option but to have them donated.

If she’d been able to use the embryos, he’d be liable for child support legally. As the guy’s lawyer said: no one should be forced to become a parent against their will.

They had a signed and valid contract saying that in the event of a divorce she could only use these embryos (which are half his) with mutual consent. She didn't get it. That should have been the end of it.

If women want to be treated as equal adults then they can't simply cry to get out of contracts. That doesn't work for men.
