This is an argument you see from conservatives a lot due to their anti-government and anti-welfare stance.

It is of course factually true, and I have used this argument in the past from the standpoint of, "women aren't powerless; here's an example where women's political power has been wielded in the past, arguably to the detriment of men".

I'm not against welfare though and I don't particularly have much of a problem with this in general. The issue that I would point to is life expectancy. Men live on average 5 years less than women. As a result, men should be able to retire 5 years sooner than women.

I take the stance that we shouldn't punish women, but should instead expand benefits and make things more fair for men. A lot of conservatives want to make things worse for women to even out how shitty things are for men. But I would rather make things better for men, to even out how good women have it.

Women make up 54% of the electorate in the United States, and have made up a majority of the electorate for most of the last 100 years

Whether you were joking or not, it is true that avoiding echo chambers is a good tactic for preserving your sanity, and it's undeniable that diversity of opinions isn't your community strongest suite.

I'm not really sure what you find so funny about this. These are the proper sociology terms for this: honor, dignity, and victimhood cultures. And you people aren't on the side of the dignity culture in this, for sure.

I think it must be like that thing, where r/MensGlib content is about >25% valid criticism of your subreddit, except people delivering it are also pretty angry with you. I guess it's that as culture in US you don't hear men when they are angry, so throw in a pinch of political polarization, and you are completely comfortable brushing all of it off.

Also, about your initial comment here, I find it hard to believe that you didn't know that the left-right divide was about capital vs labor before it was marketed as belief vs disbelief in structural discrimination inherent in the system, whatever that is. But that exactly similar to gender feminists stomping out the remaining equity feminists out of the institutionalized movement, so maybe that's a conscious tactic on your part, or maybe this sort of thinking is just "in the water supply" in the circles you run in, hard to say.
