Under shorts is fine, I see guys running/at the gym in that attire fairly often. Leggings by themselves on a guy is in my opinion...weird.

I can't count how many times I see dudes on with leggings under their shorts at the gym especially when it gets colder. You do you man.

If you're asking than you already know other people will see it as 'different' at the very least. If you're okay with that, they feel nice and they look good, what is the problem?

I used to wear spandex tights for running, cycling and cross-country skiing all the time. Often quite colourful ones too! Never really thought about it actually...
