That tends to be the stance on violence in general: males hitting females is monstrous an inexcusable (many even say they shouldn't do it in self-defense); females hitting males is empowering and should be encouraged (many just assume she must have had a good reason, he must have deserved it, etc.)

I'll do the opposite of what she says: sons definitely need to be taught that hitting a woman in self-defense is not wrong. He has to learn to defend himself from women, because no one else is going to defend him. He can't rely on White Knights or the police like women can

I remember back in high school even in the senior year there were a couple of girls that hit their male friends pretty hard for fun/when the guy jokes insults her. sometimes the guy would say "can you just stop?" but they didn't stop, I don't remember seeing the guys hitting them back.

No, i can't agree with OP on this. She starts with "beating on women is wrong". This suggests she is talking about abusive men, not men who hit back at abusive women.

I was always taught as a kid that I was never to start a fight. But if I came to it, beat that mf to hell and back. So it never got explained to me that this rule did not apply to women for some reason. Then I got into a fight with a bully that just happened to be a girl ( long story I might post about it). Then I got suspended and she got nothing l. I was pissed and only then did it get explained to me that I was not to hit a women under any circumstances. Luckily my mom knew that was bs and it was just how the system works. So I still got ice cream and tv during my suspension.
