I’m headed to trial and getting buried in debt. I’m trying to reduce expenses in downsizing rental home.

Does anyone have experience if the court/judge care if I reduce, maintain, or exceed expenses?

Will I be penalized for trying to downsize/manage expenses (seen as more disposable income to redirect to ex)? My ex makes bogus claims that her expenses exceed income.

And yes, I’ve inquired with lawyer, but they’re quite slow to respond and I’m evaluating rental properties next couple weeks. Any perspective is appreciated. I’m based in CA.
