In Malta we already have a register listing all men convicted of sexual crimes. I can never agree that certain 'crimes' are treated differently so that even after a person is 'reformed' in prison they continue to be punished because they are unable to get jobs and their 'crime' continues to chase them throughout their lives. A typical case involved a man who was driving in a remote country road where he stopped to pee against a wall. A woman with her child drove past him and she reported him to the police because according to her he had traumatised her child because her child saw the back of a man who was peeing.

Now a socialist MP - Rosianne Cutajar - who has been implicated in corruption and in the murder of a journalist - wants a new register that lists men who were involved in 'domestic violence'. Violence can mean anything from psychological violence (whatever that means) to murder. But most cases involve instances where a woman says that her husband hit her. This register will be available to employers and other individuals - it will make any man listed in it basically unemployable as HR departments are populated by women.
