This isn't a pussypass yet. It's actually how these kinds of sensational crimes should be treated in the press. No name, no identifying information on the perpetrator. At this time, these are unproven allegations. Their life shouldn't be ruined if it turns out she's innocent. She's out on bail, so she's not walking free. If she is proven guilty and then walks with light punishment without being put on blast, then it's a pussypass.

The language used in the headline is intentionally inflammatory. My first thought was that these would be the charges laid in a shaken baby syndrome case.

All the same points line up; New mother ✅️ Child under 1yr ✅️ Hospitalized with brain damage✅️

The difference is the language used. Instead of "woman walks free after assaulting 11 month old son" it might read "mother charged with assault causing harm in shaken baby case"

The first buries the lede trying to incite outrage, the second immediately puts context to the crime. It's a crime, no doubt. She'll hopefully lose custody, have to attend mandatory counseling, and be under supervision for about 5 years (probation) with conditions not to be unsupervised around kids but likely with a sympathy note on the record that it was a non sexual offense.
