I’m about to head into mediation. My STBX has a catalog of independently published fiction on the kindle store. It doesn’t generate much money, but I want to leverage ownership of this IP asset during negotiation. What are my options for proposing we settle it? I see two possible options, but would love input from anyone with similar experience.

1- royalty as a percentage of sales, possibly for the term of alimony 2- buyout of the value (currently it is quite small, but future earnings of a catalog like this could be significant)

I work with a guy who wrote a hit song and pays his ex 25% in perpetuity. I don’t really want to pay an IP lawyer to help, it just doesn’t seem like it’s worth it, but she has a legit IP lawyer on her side through a family connection. What kind of offers or arrangements could be typical?
