Has anyone been made to pay attorney fees in family court on motion ?

I'm in Arizona and the judge ordered that I get $100,000 with interest. I still haven't seen a penny yet. My divorce was prolonged for quite a while. It's different when you have an ex and kids and that ex does anything to prevent you from having them.

I've been told it's very rare that people get a judgment.

I’m in NJ. Was asked to pay attorney fees in every cross motion, and the judge denied it every time. I’ll note that I gave her thousands of dollars voluntarily for her legal fees up front so she could hire a lawyer, but she blew through that and requested a ridiculous amount more. I think the judge realized that I gave her enough to get divorced amicably, but since she brought the fight, then she had to pay for it. I view it as the price of anger, and it’s expensive! My advice is to be reasonable and give her some money if she has no income.

I did. The judge did it as a way to "encourage me" to stop fighting for my rights as a father. This was after years of being in and out of court due to my ex's behavior though. But, the court just wanted it to end and hell no are they going to make an example out of a mother.

I have asked that my STBX pay for what amounted to a frivolous restraining order that was denied, and some other BS. The judge didn't even address those requests. Since then her strategy appears to be to make this as expensive for me as possible, hoping I run out of money first.

In my divorce, we each paid about $5k in atty's fees and that included a trial.

I was ordered to pay $3k of her atty's fees because of the income difference between me and her. I was working full time and she refused to work.

It was kind of funny. So I got this judicial order to pay $3k of her atty's fees. And she told me I should just pay directly to her. I KNEW it was a scam she was pulling. She owed her atty that money, as her retainer of $1000 had run out.

I ended up paying her atty directly and forced him to sign a "paid in full" letter before I gave him the money.
