I am not a "Back the Blue no matter what" type, I respect the men and women of law enforcement who are doing their job, working for their community, upholding sensible laws impartially, but these Sovereign Citizens are just dumb. "You do not need a license to travel" : walking, biking, even a horse or horse drawn conveyance, except where specific safety related laws apply, is perfectly valid non licensed travel. A motor vehicle of any sort whether comercial or non comercial, must be registered and licensed to use public roads, and must meet standards set by departments of transportation, the driver of those vehicles must also be licensed to drive those vehicles, it is not difficult to understand.

My best friend is a recovering alcoholic who 16 years ago gradually replaced his addiction to alcohol with an addiction to god (typical fundy non-denominational church). It's gotten increasingly worse over the years especially since he remarried 6 years ago (she was a total fundie).

He now claims to be a sovereign citizen (very upset about the election being "stolen" from Trump). I initially tried to refute his nonsense, we got into a huge fight and didn't talk for months. Finally, we started an email exchange and I told him "it's best we don't talk politics or religion ever again."

Yeah, this is a guy I've known since we were in diapers, best men at each other's weddings. And now I feel like I don't know him at all.
