Woman “social influencer and Onlyfans Model” engaged in persistently stalking and harassing several footballers gets slap on the wrist (UK)

Another fine example of men facing disproportionately harsher sentences for crime.

Interested, I took a quick look at sentencing guidelines for stalking in the UK (of course which came laden with a lovely stock image of a man stalking a woman BUT OF COURSE)

Interestingly the maximum sentence stalking can carry (on its own, no threat of violence) is 6 months. If threat or fear of violence is involved: up to 10 years.

Stalking is defined in UK law as making persistent unwanted contact with another individual. It doesn’t have to involve physical following; but can be considered where someone aggressively phones someone else, or won’t leave them along on social media.

Regarding sentencing the severity of a sentence is determined by whether the individual displayed higher culpability (intentional persistent contact) and also harm (distress and changes forced upon victims)

In this case, despite receiving no custodial sentence, the woman in question ran through over a DOZEN phones to maintain contact with her targets. I’m not quite sure how that doesn’t display culpability.

Despite it being hard to feel sorry for overpaid footballers, the gents in question adjusted security detail for themselves and their families on basis of this woman’s actions.

Her harassment includes falsely claiming to have got an abortion regarding the men and her interactions with them, threatening to bring out an unhinged “alter ego” and tracking them down where ever they are. All of this stemming from her having a brief fling with the chaps mentioned and they decided not to persist with seeing her.

Her defence? “I didn’t think social media was real and I didn’t think what I was saying would be interpreted as threatening. I was lonely”

We’re talking about a woman over 21 years old here.

I don’t suppose I have a question here other than a desire to rant about how comparatively men still face far higher culpability for their actions; and lesser ones too! The idea a man could claim he “didn’t know his words were harmful” and be spared jail is laughable.

Meanwhile one needs only type in “man jailed for stalking” and you’ll have several examples of men being jailed for stuff like sending a celebrity persistent love letters or giving them unwanted gifts.

Not saying the above is right but the disparity in treatment is wild.
