Passive language to shift the blame and avoid responsibility.

A "failure in care" is not checking the patients allergies and giving them something they're allergic to... Intentionally injecting air into the bloodstream (to cause an embolism) or overdosing them with insulin (to induce hypoglycemia) are a bit more than a "failure in care".

She is presumed innocent until proven guilty. That’s precisely what the trial is about.

The article provides comments by her lawyer but provides no real information about the evidence against her. Hopefully the jury will appropriately weigh the evidence and come to an appropriate verdict.

To be fair defense lawyers have to try and create any reasonable doubt to get their client off. Look at law and order svu with Buchanan, man is a shark but he does his job well.
