One major thing I've realized participating in this sub is how critical a lack of empathy is to the red pill. There are primarily two types of red pilled guys, at least that I've seen, and both have serious deficiencies in empathy.
The first group are incels and young men with little experience that are drawn to the red pill and its ideas but haven't fully adopted them. They generally use the concepts pushed by the red pill to explain their lack of success. In other words, to blame women and "female nature" for them not getting attention, sex, and relationships from girls/women in the way they perceive a subset of other men getting that attention/sex/relationships.
The second group are men who have had relationship success, usually before they started consuming red pill content. They generally use the concepts pushed by red pill content creators as a playbook for abusing their partners, both longer term partners and casual hook-ups. These guys also tend to enforce hyper masculinity more than the other group, and concern themselves a lot with belittling men who they consider "betas."
In both cases a lack of empathy drives a lot of these behaviors. If you mention the challenges that women face to someone in the first group, they'll often say something like "they just can't see how women could have it worse." Or something to that effect, which clearly shows a lack of the ability to empathize. They get a sort of tunnel vision, where the issues that matter to them the most, dating/sex, are the only issues that matter. They perceive an advantage for women in that one area, so that's all that counts to them.
This varies to some degree from person to person, but is a very common connection from what I've noticed.
The second group's lack of empathy is much more pronounced, though many of them have learned to mask their lack of empathy. These guys use love bombing and other abusive behaviors to get potential partners to think that they are very empathetic. Once the deception has worked they turn that off and use "dread game," "hot/cold tactics," etc. to control their partners. These guys see what this does to their partners, the harm it causes, but they don't care. They're generally either sociopaths who lack all empathy whatsoever, or they have dehumanized women to such a degree in their mind that they cannot empathize with them any longer.
This lack of empathy is really a crucial factor in the genesis of most red pilled guys.
We really need more resources for building empathy, both in this sub and more broadly.
The pinned post at the top of this subreddit is absolutely great. Kudos to the moderator/sub-creator who made it. It does an excellent job of debunking the claims made by red pill in no uncertain terms. It would be additionally helpful if some resources for building and teaching empathy, among some other resources for psychological well being, were added as resources. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything that is concrete and straightforward enough to be that resource, otherwise I'd just post a link. I'm hoping someone reading this can find some to share.
More broadly, I think schools and parents/guardians need to focus more on teaching these skills to boys. I'm not one of those people who thinks things were better for young people in the past. I'm 36 and I remember the 90s, it was pretty shit back then too. So, I don't think we need to revert to old school parenting or some shit. I do think how terminally online people are and the power of social media to spread terrible ideas faster than ever are real challenges. Ideas like the red pill spread further because they can instantly take root in vulnerable boys and young men. Misinformation and toxic ideologies move faster now, that’s the biggest difference. We need something to inoculate boys and young men against that. Boys just aren't generally taught empathy as much or the same way that girls are. And higher levels of testosterone (well technically it's fluctuations in testosterone and it’s more complicated than I have time to discuss) can inhibit the ability to feel empathy. When you couple those things together, a lot of cis teenage boys are primed for a lack of empathy and that’s causing harm to both them and those around them. It's leaving them vulnerable to things like the red pill, the black pill, or incel communities. There has to be a way to combat that.
