Maybe feminists are talking about the class divide. Being female chauvinists they cannot help maligning men in general.

Or, as it was shown to be in the past, it is simply the privileged women who want more power and are stymied by more successful and capable and driven men. I do think women and men have similar or the same IQ. However, somehow it is mostly men who start up groundbreaking start-ups. And no one is gonna convince me women do have the same opportunities, there is something else. Then such women prefer to think there is a conspiracy than to admit they do not have the balls to go all in on your dream and want power, money and admiration nonetheless.

I don’t think many feminists would claim men are oppressed, because to do so would give us the kind of power of grievance that they prefer to monopolize for themselves.

This isn’t strange.

First, you can be in both states because privilege isn’t a status that operates like these global concentric circles over all economic, political, and social spheres in life. Men for example, can be simultaneously more likely to have their physical pain get taken seriously by medical doctors but find it harder than women to be taken seriously as victims of emotional abuse. Men can have higher suicide rates and lower rates of sexual assault. You have to access privilege separately for different activities in different social, economic, and political spheres.

None of this necessarily invalidates the existence of patriarchy b/c patriarchy is a system of beliefs and institutional dynamics that privilege a very narrow/artificial vision of idealized manhood not the actual complex lived experiences of men. So it shouldn’t be surprising that in certain context patriarchy benefits men and other context it harms them. The only men that would universally benefit from patriarchy are those that just so happen to be born with a body, psychology, and economic/social/political status that closely aligns with that idealized manhood.

“Schizophrenic state of being oppressed and privileged” did you just read deleuze or something? Not sure I agree with that statement though (that you cannot be both). Interesting thoughts
