I am sick of my own baby momma drama and often times the thought of just picking up and leaving and starting a new life over again comes across my mind. I think it's normal to feel this way sometimes — both for fathers and mothers. However, there is a very obvious and glaring difference in the reaction to when a man/father feels this way and when a woman/mother feels this way.

There are numerous threads on Reddit of moms saying that they are ready to give up on their family and in each case, they are met with empathy, grace, and compassion and told that they are so brave and strong for sharing this. But men? The mere suggestion would probably be enough to be have his rights taken away and shunned and treated like a deadbeat who doesn't deserve to be around his children. There is no safe place for men to share these thoughts or feelings.

The other irony is that when mothers want to abandon their families, it's often because the stress of being a mom is getting to them and they can't handle the kids anymore. But when a father chooses to abandon their kids and family, I'd venture to say that the majority of the time it's because of the narcissistic, terrible mother who gatekeeps and makes him absolutely miserable.
