I'm getting divorced shortly, after 15+ years together. Live in California. Two young kids. I have a good income and expect to pay plenty of alimony afterwards, and in general finances aren't a concern in terms of being able to maintain two houses and to provide for the kids. No legal issues either (criminal records, substance abuse, or so on). Wife is mainly a SAHM but does work a small amount part time.
I will be seeking 50/50 custody of the kids, and my lawyer said that this should be reasonable to expect to be granted.
However, I wanted to also ask dads here who have been through a similar situation before: for those of you who wanted 50/50, and there were no disqualifying factors and the finances allowed it, did you get it? Or did you end up with less than 50/50 custody? And if so, do you know what factors came into it, to end up with this outcome?
