My ex is doing everything she can to obstruct my access to our kids. I tried mediation and lawyers and $30k later have the boys 4 nights a fortnight. She does everything possible to demonise me to the kids, to the point they asked me if they were allowed to love me anymore.
So I made an application for parenting orders in the family court. My new lawyer seems good. But I'm super nervous as I've never been to court before, and while Family Law Act says kids deserve equal time with mum and dad, I'm told by everyone they still favour the mum.
Kids are between 4 & 7, mum and dad live within 15 mins of school and each others houses, we both have flexible jobs. There never been any domestic violence or abuse in relationship. We keep all comms in writing.
While my lawyer explained what to expect when i go to court, I think I've muddled it in my mind.
Any advice about appearing in family court for the first time and as a dad, about what to expect or what I need to focus on would be great.
