The cinematography is unfortunate well done, having the son dress in dark blues and greys make the audience feel disconnected from the character. This is in sharp contrasted to the mother, who dresses in lighter colours, making us connect more with her then we do the son. Moreover, most of the sons seems have him coated in shadows, dehumanizing him and making the audience feel as if he is some sort of monster. Bo is only show with his mother, where as Bo's mother is shown to have a group of friends that she can lean on. Another thing the film did to push its message was to add a low horn when Bo is watching the "Undesirable" media, making us feel uneasy about it.
