In Ohio a man has ZERO legal rights to his children even AFTER paternity is established. Ohio House Bill 14 aims to change this and it is up for a committee vote THIS TUESDAY, Nov. 28. Please help contact these Reps. (in comments) to tell them we support equal rights for fathers.

There are a lot of 'men's rights' issues out here today and this one is a doozy and I believe one of the most blatant and most fixable. In most counties in Ohio an unmarried man has no rights to his kids and this is objectively wrong.

We have A LOT of support for this new law but still need people calling in and writing to the members of the House to tell them we support equal right for all parents. I'm happy to answer any questions about the bill but the bottom line is that this will give 50/50 time by default.

Most states already have 50/50 by default and something like 25% of Ohio counties have it too but still a majority of Ohio is that the mother get 100% custody by default.

I really feel that anyone that if for equal rights for men and women should support this bill but amazingly the democrats are vehemently against it and it is them who we need to "target" with education and good will. If just a few people could reach out to the democrats especially on this committee it could go a long way to getting it through.

Ugh, my family court case is in Ohio. The years I spent trying to secure custody of my son from his blatantly drug-addicted mother are a testament to how much that state needs this legislation.

Zero legal rights but probably child support exists. I feel like there is this “Rights to Responsibilities Ratio” that should be the same for all (if more rights then privileged and if more responsibilities then slavery) but we all know whose rights are more and whose responsibilities are expected to be more.

I wrote these reps in support as I recently went through the nightmare of family court in Ohio as a man. In my particular shithole county in Ohio, they allow the criminal, criminal prosecutors to participate (and dominate) in family court. Because of this, I wasn't allowed to present any evidence, witnesses, or even a single word of testimony despite hiring a skilled, experienced divorce lawyer..in 18 months. So yes, this needs to be urgently supported by this sub.
