Gender equality means having women deservedly excel, so any percentage greater than 50 is equality

[–]Angryasfk 30 points31 points32 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s the truth of “feminist equality”. Except in housework. There anything less than the guy doing 50% is “exploitation”.

[–]Angryasfk 28 points29 points30 points 2 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

And that’s the dark secret behind “affirmative action”. It was introduced to “right the wrong” of unequal enrolments, with women “missing out”. Yet half a century on these programs are still there and yet there’s a greater imbalance than when we started, but it’s in favour of the group that’s “over represented”!

The other “dark secret”, of course, is the lie that AA benefits black guys and Asian guys. Black guys get a few crumbs, and are told they should be “oh so grateful” for them, and Asian guys are clearly discriminated against in AA, as is now clear to everyone.

There may have been a case for it in 1972. To get some “role models” in place, some “others to relate to” and all that. But 50 years on? Come on. And with women being over 60% and climbing rapidly, it is institutional discrimination pure and simple.

There was not even a case for it in 1972. The reason there were more men attending university at the time was in large part because of the G.I. Bill, which provided funds to veterans that could be used towards higher education. Men were still being conscripted in 1972, the discrimination that led to a higher proportion of men in university was not a case of discrimination against women, it was actually a feeble attempt to repay men (the ones who survived to complete their service) for the burden that had been placed exclusively on them.

Women as a proportion of university students had also mushroomed in the previous 20 years. The trends were that they would have likely reached parity within a few years of 1972 anyway without any need for “special measures”.

But it is nothing short of institutionalised discrimination to keep pro-women education policies now.

Lol AA do not benefit Asians. In fact there is a constant string of lawsuit against Harvard about this very thing.

[–]Angryasfk 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It HURTS Asians. They have the “effrontery” to work hard, study long, and value education. Clearly AA must work against such “privilege”.

They still try to claim that AA “helps” Asians though. I’ve even seen some try to claim it “helps” poor white guys. But the stats show who really is benefiting from all this.

I’m recalling a study that found the worst performing African American students (by class rank) were more likely to be admitted to Harvard than the best performing Asian students, so it’s not really breadcrumbs.

In reality it’s just preference for upper class members who have all the same privileges, but also have the right skin color.

It really messed with my worldview when I was in school because I knew with a decent degree of confidence that if someone with minority status worked equally as hard as me, they would be at a better school and not in the same classes as me.

Feminist claiming they were helping both men and women

[–]Mode1961 5 points6 points7 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fighting discrimination by using discrimination is like fighting a forest fire by dousing it with gasoline.

Ah Richard reevs.Even though he does good work he also boderline simps to feminism.

He is one of those groups that claim entirity of human history is defined by patriarchy and only the modern west is an exception.

It's now 22% in favorite of women in 2024. Young men keep the infrastructure running well and they are being ignored, RIP society.

Yeah but compared to 1972 the value of a degree has evaporated lol. Competence always rises.
