I have mixed feelings about such philanthropy. However, at least he does help out some people, unlike some other rich assholes.

What I think should happen, but is unlikely, is to prevent formation of family superwealth. I do not care who you are and how capable you are, you do not deserve to inherit more money than most countries have. In the long run it simply leads to unhealthy concentration of wealth and power in the hands of the few who did nothing except get born to the right parents. Better distribution of wealth would help many not be dependant on random largess.
