Beyond the dumpster fire of the family law regime, one major reason for MGTOW (certainly my reason), and I mean the real kind not the "all women are trash" unhinged kind, is imply that the sex drive is a very motivating force for men, and unfortunately, sex appeal and sexual success is inverse to conscientiousness.

If you notice all the bro hustle influencers who talk about "men's success" tend to be businessmen. However, most men are not businessmen. If you're more traditionally masculine by the definition of liking to work with things more than people. With that, from my experience (N of around 150) as well as the evo psych literature, women are strongly attracted to a predilection and aptitude for social dominance, which creates an economies of scale effect in regards to sex appeal. Meaning, because men compete for women, a man who spends twice as much time on meeting women will have more than twice the output of his efforts, and so on with 4x. This creates a strong incentive to chase, pursue, and engage in environments for this. Considering most environments for meeting potential partners involve either social media or alcohol use, clearly more engagement with these environments is bad for your overall life success as well as healthpan and lifespan.

To put things practically, when in my wild youth I partied every night and had a bad cocaine and drunk driving habit, I was able to sometimes attract models and strippers, as in the hottest sort of women. As someone currently dedicated more to productivity and health, I am sexually invisible to such women. This leads me to prefer sliding back down the economies of scale towards just putting in very minimal, close to zero effort.

Of course, the social gaslighting on this point is the "Women are Wonderful" effect, wherein women's attraction is meant to be noble. This being ingrained in every body from the countless movies of an awkward boy saving the world and thus winning the graces of the most beauitiful woman in the room. Clearly this is absurd. Also one can say that image is (in this case, benevolent) sexism: women are not a trophy but autonomous actors who decide who to have sex with out of their own desire. Think of the reverse no one is going around trying to recruit men to give Mother Theresa some good dicking.

And this has been known across the ancients, from Eve's apple to Odysseus' Sirens. The desire for women can lead men astray. Note that this does not claim women to be bad actors, simply that their biological autonomous sexual attraction to a man is something socially revered as of great value, when it shouldn't be. Just a preference, and if you happen to enjoy being a drug dealing club promoter and take advantage of it, sure, but for many men, wanting to avoid playing the game aside from a few years in your youth is a healthy and sensible choice for many men who would have to sacrifice too much in order to have the charisma to compete for the most attractive women.
