White males eligible for free school meals are less likely to go on to higher education than any other groups, according to government data published earlier this year.

If this was in United States, this scholarship would be protested, struck down, and the people who came up with this scholarship, would have their lives ruined. But with that said, I personally don't see anything wrong with this scholarship necessarily but I'd rather we stop making scholarships only available to specific people.

How about we destroy the systemic barriers that prevent white men from attending instead of discriminating against women and people of color with by giving a specific group more scholarships?

Just level the playing field by removing those racist scholarships!

Starts treating men fairly in high-school, put in place programs that will tell men they are wanted in academia, restore innocent until proven guilty on university campuses.

That way we can restore the amount of men going to uni. without turning towards racist programs!

To me means tested seems fairer instead of due to race but I guess the university can do what they want with their own funds.

Here's an excerpt from the same linked research briefing:

"Black students are more likely to drop out from higher education than other ethnic groups and least likely to achieve a first or upper second-class degree. In contrast, White students are least likely to drop out and most likely to achieve a first or upper second-class degree.

White graduates have the highest employment rates of any ethnic group. Chinese, Black and graduates from ‘Other’ ethnic groups have the lowest. Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Black Caribbean graduates earn the least, whereas Chinese, Indian and Mixed White and Asian graduates earn the most."

It shouldn't be

The university said its current intake of such students was below average for the sector.

when the sector already shows a huge bias, it should be based on an absolute scale.
