Mutually decided it’s not working. 37F has accumulated debt multiple times throughout the relationship, currently has 20K in debt, 43M refused to pay for it this time. 37F got best friend to use her line of credit (for the lower interest rates) and is paying her back while 43M covers ALL bills, living expenses etc.
37F works 15 hrs a week, managing a small business (with partners) However, feels like she works harder than anyone.
43M works 50-60 hrs a week. 43M owns contracting business and also wants to protect what he can.
37F will rack up $300/month at the local coffee place on teas and junk food (no meals.)
Looking for advice, obvious fear is that while they cohabitate (separated) and ‘fix’ up the house, 37F may go on a spending spree. How does he protect himself from further debt she might accumulate etc.
What’s the first step? She would be willing to sign a contract agreeing to a 50/50 split on all bills after today.
Any ideas to make this amicable but, help protect 43M?!
Side note: he’s the only reason they have had houses etc. however she’s spent her money on garbage and they’ve had to remortgage the family home.
