Asking for a number straight away isn’t the best way, it’s better to just tell her if she wants to get to know each other ruegue there or take some coffee. Numbers lead nowhere if you ask so fast more often than not, but connecting with girls on an instant date increase your odds of success at getting a kiss or even same day sex

it’s a really bad idea to hookup with someone in your building.
a few people i know have done that and it has always ended bad.

How bad? I moved into a very social building with young professionals and I always hear people hook up with each other constantly and I feel left out :)

Not necessarily, if OP is upfront about it don’t see why that can’t happen.
And don’t beat urself up, missed opportunities happens to the best of us. When you see her again at least u guys had a moment with the stuck elevator. Could be cheeky and go “Hey it’s my cellmate” when you see her.
