In my opinion it's about getting the joy and confidence back. Think about why you lost it, was it your "fault" or circumstance? Don't try to go back in hard-core flirting mode right away, rather remember what it felt like back in the days. Imagine the joy you got from it, lust for that feeling and just get out there. Don't let a few awkward moments or negative experiences mess with you. You just need a few good moments and you'll be right where you left off.
