I used to do the triangular gaze, look into one eye, then the other, then the lips, then repeat it again. Then I would brush her hair behind her ear and place my arm on her neck and gently pull her towards me to kiss her. If I sensed any resistance or weirdness at any point, like she is recoiling or grossed out, I'd stop and try again at a later time.

Coming from a girl who’s been kissed unwillingly who is also into girls and has some game, I would glance at her lips while staring at her then say “can I kiss you?” That way its romantic and less awkward. And choose a good moment to ask, don’t just ask her while she’s talking or she spoke about something that’s heavy on her mind. Personally just warm up to hand holding and then in those awkward silences ask.

What I usually do the first time is sense if I want to kiss her. It's important to be connected to your own feelings and whether you're attracted and having a good time with her. Then I usually move closer and sense if it's received positively. At some point you need to let a moment of silence happen and look her in the eyes. At that point if the situation still feels right I get very close to her to a point our lips are almost touching. At that point the sexual tension is very intense, so there's no room for doubt anymore. I think consent is important and there's no one single correct way to initiate things. The important part is to find a way to communicate, to sense the other person and be considerate of them, and to be aware of yourself.
