I finished The Rational Male a few days ago and have been reading No More Mr. Nice Guy ever since. I have few problems regarding contradicting advice.

On one hand, Robert Glover describes a Nice Guy as a person who builds walls around himself in order to avoid self-disclosure, which inevitably inhibits intimate relationships with others and disclosure of personal information, such as perceived flaws, depressed mood, etc.

On the other hand, my impression from TRM and TRP is that self-disclosure should be kept at a minimum. To me, Tomassi made a point that men should not disclose too much personal information, especially about our emotions, to the opposite sex. This is vital to being perceived as "mysterious".

Glover recommends self-disclosure, especially about topics about pain, flaws, depression, personal deficiencies, etc. But from my impression of TRP and Tomassi, I understood that disclosing such topics, especially emotional topics and topics that highlights your flaws and deficiencies, to the opposite sex is counter-productive. Where do you draw the line?
