Spent an evening with some good friends of mine. We sat around, bullshit for a bit, work on our crafts, one buddy has his leatherworking out, I'm working on my chainmail, we're drinking a few beers, the usual.

Then the topic shifts towards a Women Only Space support group, and the drama that has recently sprung up from it in the fringes of our social circle. All the other guys chime in about how they understand peoples viewpoints of how MRA are just women hating white guys upset over losing all their power, and how anger is an acceptable response, though the level of it was harsh in their mind.

I wait for a lull in the conversation, and calmly bring up that the reason I follow along and see what's going on with the MRAs is mainly because I'm concerned over the current male predicament of marriage. I state that, in fact, I'm completely put off marriage based solely on the economical risk factors in terms of alimony, child support etc, and all those divorces initiated by women and how frequently rulings go in their favour.

All in all, not that much information, nothing new to TRP.

To my buddies? They opened up immediately. What followed was 20 minutes of concerns and worries being stated by all of them, culminating in our buddy who studies law going on for another 10 minutes about how he is terrified of ever touching any person every again. The friendliest of our bunch who always hugs everyone is upset over how some people equate a hug to rape nowadays, and how he's had to stop being affectionate to all but his closest friends.

It was eye opening because they at first were just dis content with the state of things, but as soon as I introduced just a single basic opinion and some facts on the current state of marriage, they completely changed gears and aired their grievances. Not out in public, but in a safe, close social circle. It showed that they were aware of many things, but too scared, and rightly so considering the recent fallout in our greater social circle, to state any of this in public.
