This stuff definitely happens. Most of us have been guilty of orbiting like that.

The woman usually does it subconsciously, though. I'd be very worried about any woman cold-hearted enough to intentionally use people.

Reminds me of an ex. I watched her lie and deflect constantly with even her best friends because she just didn't have the backbone to say how she really felt if there was any chance of a conflict. She'd say whatever she had to sweep the matter under the rug.

It took an embarrassingly long time for me to realize she did the same thing to me. I had convinced myself that our relationship was deeper than that. I was wrong.

Jealousy seems to be a top concern in the comments. To respond in bulk, I'm not jealous. I'm quite happy actually--else I'd be going on a few dates a week with new people, which from experience I know I can arrange.

It's actually a little puzzling that the comments focused on my boundaries or lack thereof. They have no bearing on that you still don't want to be the person getting called in this situation. I guess it didn't come across that that was the thesis.
