For context; I'm a novice and I'm still trying to figure this shit out.

I approached 4 girls during the cruise, and I got some mixed results. This post only contains approach 1 and 2. 3 and 4 will be on a different post

Girl no1: This was the first day of the cruise. I was with my cousin, on our way to our cabin when I meet this chick by the elevator. I greet her and we chat for a bit. I asked her age (19), then proceeded to tease her about not looking her age. She was very tiny and looked a bit younger with a mask on. She teases me back and says I don't look 22 either. Ends up playfully taking off the hat I was wearing to get a better look. She playfully apologizes for touching me with my consent to which I reply "don't worry, you can touch me whenever you like" in an equally playful and suggestive manner. We have a bit of a laugh and she accompanies my cousin and I to our cabin and I take her Instagram and cellphone number and she texts herself from my phone. The only problem with this is that we're on a boat in the middle of nowhere and there's no network. I couldn't get a hold of her for the rest of the time I was there.

Later on that night, I see her with a new guy... And she was with him pretty much the whole time. She was still friendly whenever we saw each other but other than that she didn't seem interested in talking that much or hanging out. So I told myself I'm better off not wasting my time and energy pursuing her.

I think I handled myself well in our initial interaction but I feel like pushing for an instant date would have sealed the deal. I only hesitated because I was with my younger female cousin and I didn't want her to judge me.

Girl no2: After realizing that I had lost girl 1, I decided to move on and meet someone else. A long while later as I'm walking around and exploring the ship I run into this cutie I had seen earlier and I decide to go for it. I greet her, and I ask for directions to the photo gallery and I ask if she could take me there. She agreed but unfortunately it's just right around the corner. She seemed to be in a hurry so I asked where she was going, she told me she had to use the lady's room.

For some unknown reason, my dumb afc brain realizes that we are losing her and decides I have to ask her if she wanted to hang out. She replied with with a swift and polite yet devastating "no thank you" and that was the end of it.

Upon reflection, I realized that I rushed this interaction and I didn't build rapport and a connection before asking her out. It was a dumb and impulsive approach and I have learned from it. I should have just gotten her name and let her leave. I would have gotten a chance to talk to her later. But I felt like I had lost girl 1 because I didn't move fast enough and that is why I rushed the second approach with girl 2
