Yeah but don't be so avoidant that you can't tell a story about something or you have to change it to a " friend" or" this girl I was seeing" unless it really was just some girl you were seeing.

You treat them as an NPC in your story. You just don't talk ABOUT them.

I bring them up occasionally but never in a negative manner.

It’s usually in the context of a funny story, a bad decision, or something I learned about myself.

I don’t dwell on it beyond a few sentences.
