The reason you might want to talk about yourself particularly on online dating, is you want to reveal as much of yourself as possible to try to generate interest. To try to peak her interest, and hopefully have her ask about you. On online dating, you only have a small window to do this. Perhaps a few questions, before she considers ghosting you.

On the otherhand, everyone here knows to not talk about themselves and focuses on asking questions. This shifts the focus and spotlight on the girl. You learn as much as possible about her. There's also a chance she doesn't give a damn about you and your viewpoints, or maybe you ideas don't 'bite'. I have done this, trying to express my feelings on something, got ghosted straight away! -_-
