Don't do "cocky funny" my friend. I know this is a throwback to the old PUA days. The problem with "cocky funny" is, most guys tend to overdo the cocky part. You can be alluring by being funny, playful and teasing without being cocky.

Think about what you’d find funny but cocky. If you don’t get the gist of a certain line that you’ve been adviced of, I suggest you try to do so.

Therefore (and because I can’t think of anything but on the go) I won’t give you an example; you get inspired if something feels ‘cocky but funny’ in a way you could be like ‘wow, that’s a genius line!’. If you ‘have’ no such thing to say (i.e. ‘material’), there’s no point doing it unless you feel like it.

Want to mention: I might say cocky funny stuff, but that’s part of my persona. I try to do it in a way of non offense, because it just feels right in the moment. Cockyfunny does not itself guarantee any - negative nor positive - outcome, it depends on what you say

Two girls at work are talking about some one, no idea what or who. I join in with some random nonsense like "don't worry, you don't need to be so secretive about how awesome I am." I generally get a laugh and bring told I'm not the subject of their conversation to which I act (with cartoonish exaggeration) incredibly hurt and disappointed. More laughs and usually I'm filled in at that point.

Girl I'm at least casually acquainted with regularly is acting very distracted and such? Obviously she's wondering if I'm single or otherwise available. Eye rolls and laughs ensue. If I know she's in a relationship already I might throw some bit in there about her being able to rent me to help make him jealous so he remembers she's got options or some such thing. (No takers yet, but it gets them to laugh all the same)

The idea is to be very playful about it or you'll come off as arrogant. Beyond that, it's super personalized to your personality. My basic personality is to always be the joker making everyone laugh so it comes easily for me. When applied to being cocky it results in such absurd degrees of narcissism that no one can take it seriously (and yet some people still do....I worry about those ones). YMMV.

My style is totally cocky funny, and I have the same problem. Sometimes my lines land and you can see the attraction spikes.

The thing I learned from Julien is the statement of empathy, when my lines backfires I would actually apologize. Still not great game though but I hope it bring out some insights for you as an intermediate.
