Went to a speed dating event this week and killed it. I went to one event last year and thought I'd try it again, but this time I was better prepared. Thought I'd share my experience...

There were two age groups (25-39 and 40-55). I'm in my late 40's and was therefore placed in the later group. Everyone mingled together before the event and at the half time break. I made sure I dressed well, turned up 20 minutes early and made an effort to speak to lots of women (regardless of their age) at the start of the event. I had a good connection with two attractive women in their early thirties and wished them good luck and suggested we should compare notes at the half time break.

I also had a good rapport with two older women in my age group and one offered her number to me before the 7 minute 'date' was over! I refused to ask boring questions that every other guy in the room would be asking as I knew I had to stand out from the crowd.

At the half time break (which was about 30 minutes) I spoke to both younger women sperately and flirted a bit. Didn't ask for a phone number as the organizer of the event said that if you connected with someone in the other group to let them know and they would pass on their contact details. I honestly didn't give a fuck if I didn't match with anyone, I just decided to have fun and put into practice what I've learned.

The next morning I received an email saying that I matched with two women in my age group but the email also contained the contact details of the two women I was talking to in their early 30's!

I should point out that I'm average looking, but I'm funny, dress well, am in good shape and I'm extremely confident. I wasn't the best looking guy at the event, but I probably dressed the nicest, was engaging and tried to stand out from the other guys which seemed to work!
