Literally just walk straight up to him (approach) and say something direct that conveys intent. Like “Hi! So first of all you can show your interest in men (subtle or overt).

Subtle: - proximity (be close to him) => have the same hobbies, if you're in the same class, ... - talk to him (with some enthusiasm) - smile - laugh at his jokes - talk about something you'd like to do (set him up for a date idea) - ...

(More) overt: - touch (when he tells something funny touch his arm/elbow/shoulder) - wink - bite your lip (carefull this can give off a sexual vibe) - ...

When you go up to him be ready for some surprise look and don't immediately take it as rejection. Men aren't used to women coming up to them. If you'd be rejected realise it isn't something bad and it happens to everyone so just calm down and on to the next one, good luck!

From one girl to another; if he’s interested, he’s probably already noticed you. It will be obvious. If he’s looking at you, it really doesn’t matter what you say. You can just smile or make eye contact and see if he approaches you.

In regards to your fear of rejection, you have to remember that guys are not conditioned in the same way as females. They aren’t walking around with their guard up all day fending off pervs and predators. Traditional society makes it okay for a woman to approach a man with zero expectation of anything beyond a friendly encounter. That’s why there’s so many guys on here looking for advice on deciphering women’s actions. So if you simply strike up a conversation with a guy, it’s not automatically assumed that you’re into him. You can start the conversation, and leave it to him to make the move in that direction.

Do the approach the way I do it;

false time constraint: nobody wants to talk to a weird stranger forever, so start by saying, "I only have a couple seconds until I have to meet with my friends."
ask for help. This screens the guy to see if he is a good, helpful guy: "Hi, could you please help me pick out a gift for my guy friend? I don't know what guys like. I'm clueless."
Then, just flirt with him using eye contact. Ask him questions that are open ended (not the kind that he can answer with "yes" or "no") to spark conversation and to find out a little about him.
Make him ask you out: "hey, I was going to go for a drink at this cool new place later. Do you like iced drinks?...." If he has half a brain, he'll then ask you out on a date and take you out for iced drinks or tell you that he has a girlfriend.

Most of these answers seem like they are assuming that you already have a guy in mind; one that you have regular contact with. Which I don't believe is your question/situation. So I thought I'd chime in.

Ok, I(37m) would suggest the direct approach. No silly games, or trying to get that person to notice and then approach you. We as guys don't pick up cues like that. Sometimes we might not even realize you were interested.

It has to be direct and without the possibility of misinterpretation.

Fear of rejection is something you will have to just get over. There's no easy way to do this...just have to bite your lip a bit and go for it. Remember to smile... Make it clear that you are interested, offer your number. That's it. Then wait for a call... He might or he might not but that's the rejection risk that is always present.

Just be around more often in bars, events, etc. You will most likely get approached and then you're good to go! I personally am not a huge fan of girls hitting on guys but if it works then it you do you :)

Perhaps you should target men in specific locations which fits your interests/hobbies, for example if you like reading => talk to men in libraries, if you like art => talk to men in museums, if you like exercising and fitness => talk to men in gyms, ...

It will be easier to start a conversation too

Actually I was fucking stoked! And I would greatly appreciate it still even if it happened outside of a party context. It doesn't take away much from the whole man and woman relationship, you don't need to from now on wear the pants in the relationship and carry heavy rocks to build a house for your loving stay at home dad husband (unless you want to of course, hey no judgement, you might find the guy).

But yeah, just try and see, maybe you'll click with that hot stranger on the bus or maybe you don't, but you will never know unless you try.

Be forward and confident. most guys have to nut up and do exactly that and it seems like girls get approached so frequently that if a dude was playing a numbers game, he’d have a 50-50 shot. in this situation where you are the woman approaching the man, you probably have a much better chance since men rarely get approached, i can personally count the times it’s happened to me on one hand.

if you know of the memes where it’s something like a woman gives a random dude any attention and the dude instantly falls in love. that shit is accurate. men crave genuine attention and recognition especially from a woman, or at least i do. so since this rarely happens to us, it’s a very special occasion when it does and we will remember.

please normalize women approaching men. it’s frustrating that it’s so one sided and i feel like so many good connections are missed out on because of the social construct that woman shouldn’t approach men. it’s a dumb social rule that should be changed.

I'd recommend hanging out at places where you'd find guys you want to meet. Museums, book stores, coffee shops, galleries, farmers markets, whatever it is for you... And don't feel shy to go up to an attractive guy and introduce yourself! The right guy will love it and it's super romantic
