I don't have approach anxiety, but I do. I have to problem initiating contact but I rarely ever do because I already have a preconception of how the interaction will go because I can only small talk.

Yesterday I approached 2 girls with a friend and as expected, I was stuck in the boring small talk and awkward silence while my friend was having a blast and had the girl cracking up. I'm on the introverted side of the spectrum and enjoy my singular hobbies, but I find it difficult talking to people in general. I smile, laugh, make good eye contact, but find engaging in good banter and light hearted convos difficult. How can I get better at this?
