I think if you know the girl somewhat then it's better to call. Not to have a long conversation or anything but just to say what's up and make plans. It's much more personal because likely she's texting 5 other people. Your call will break that to where she only has to focus on you and what you're saying at that moment. Plus itll be a bit of a shock
P.S: take it with a grain of salt. I suck with women

I do know that guys prefer texting rather than calling. And ofcourse there are almost always other guys texting the same girl. So it makes sense that calling is a lot more effective than texting as long as you dont put too much pressure and keep it light. I think its necessary to use snapchat aswell if you're not gonna text much.

rather call the girl I am dating with every few days or so and send snapchats every day to keep momentum going.
This is a red flag to me. You don't need to "keep momentum going" via text or Snap. "Momentum" is maintained by high quality and positive in-person meetings.
Is this a big deal? When I look at my friends phones I see that they text ALOT. Like they always have a conversation going. I am the only one who uses texting as a way to set up meetings and a little small talk here and there.
No, you're doing the right thing. A man who is focused on his career and fitness doesn't have time to send a novel a day to women.
Btw, I am 19 and the girls I am dating with are all ranging between 17 to 20. I am telling this because I often heard the advice 'only text to set up meetings' but this advice seems to be aimed towards 25/30+ year olds who dont have that much freetime anymore.
It's just great advice for everyone.
Literally anyone from my age are texting like crazy when it comes to seduction and dating.
When 95% of men have no clue with women, why would you want to do what everyone else does?
Texting, calling, snap. It doesn't really matter. Again, interest is maintained by being fun, fit, good in bed, and playful/fun in person.
I was stressing too much about momentum.
All the things you listed in the bottom of your comment are present in my situation. Thank you.

Some things work for others that won't work for you and vice versa. I'm 34, I am good at texting, and it doesn't hurt my interactions, so I do it. It's easier to text in my free time than it is to meet up a bunch.
I mean shit, I just met a girl Saturday and because of our adult schedules we hadn't met up for 40+ days. If I hadn't maintained conversation with her, guarantee she would've fallen off.

Snapchat could replace the whats app conversations, I think?

Yea, I use Snapchat more nowadays. A mix of texting and pics works better for maintaining interest and makes things more interesting.

Make a habit of calling. It’s a great skill to have. Once you are good at it, depending on the situation you can use one or the other. I wish I was good at calling..

Im not really that good at calling either but I do know that girls enjoy calling a lot more than usual texting. The girl I am 'dating' with right now told me that her previous boyfriends never liked to call.
I do have some kind of phone anxiety though. Especislly when I have to call work or people that I dont know I always get anxious and just start sweating and fucking up my words.

Glad you suck at texting because calling is almost always the way to go. This shit about texting only to set up dates is on point and does NOT just apply to people over 25. The last 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19 and 18 year old I slept with barely got a word out of me by text even when she was texting a lot I was responding a little and with not much. This gives them time to fall for you by wondering about you, and because you stand out (because all other guys text). It shows you are a busy guy with an exciting life. This gets their feelings involved.
Confident men call, chat briefly then set up the next date. Weak men text. Friendzone beta-orbiters text heaps and call to listen to her problems for hours a week. Just how it is.

You won half of the battle by asking this question. Now you know what the problem is. I’m almost hitting 30 and I realized I have phone anxiety now. You are way ahead of lots of men in terms of “trying to be a good talker on phone”. The way I see it, with texting, you can take a minute or two to come up with a good response or steer conversation to something fun. On phone or in person that 2 minutes comes down to 2 seconds. That’s the challenging part. It takes lots of practice and learning from mistakes. I think talking on phone and talking in person have shared challenges, once you mastered them you feel a lot powerful in having conversation with anyone. All it takes is practice, call someone and talk for 10 minutes every day. Trust me, you can see results in a week. (I use the same technique to talk to people in person).
