There are only 3 reasons to text a girl man. Making plans to meet up, maintaining a regular presence, and sexual escalation.

If you aren't working towards these things then your conversations will be pretty boring as they have no direction.

Making plans to meet up is probably the easiest to do as the prospect of her seeing you (if she likes you) or going to do some cool fun thing will be exciting enough so you won't need to do much in the way of trying to be entertaining.

When it comes to maintaining a regular presence think of it as if you're Tweeting except you're not putting it out for the world to see, you're just texting her and you're sending her things that she can relate to. For example you may have seen the post on the main page of this site a few days ago with the .gif of a dog afraid to go out in the snow. I thought it was absolutely hilarious and I sent it to some girls I know who love dogs and react really strongly to posts like that. Just do those things from time to time so you always pop up in her mind. It doesn't need to be a daily thing. Just use a frequency that feels natural to you and her. That means if you find yourself sending texts at 5 different times in a day and she only does it twice then you gotta dial it down. These should just be quick interactions, think bumping into a friend at the mall. It doesn't have to turn into a full blown conversation.

Now I think your question is really about sexual escalation. Here's the thing, you can either be flirty for a bit then make plans to meet up or you can be texting her and maybe you already have a plan to meet in place or you just can't meet each other this week but you wanna get something going with her over the phone. Well let me tell you man, if a texting exchange like the latter doesn't end in you guys having a sex chat or one of you coming over to the other person's place so you two can fuck then its best if you just stick to texting her when you wanna meet up or when something random happens that you think she should know about.

Think about it, the first two are the only reasons you text your guy friends.

By the way, do you already have a mental picture of how an interaction changes from when it first starts to when things get a little steamier or are you still at the point where you just flirt and be funny and hope it moves forward?

Depends if she has a flirty character or not....

I often mention things that are relevant to the girl I am texting. I am also over the texting game, and I would rather arrange a photo call to check in with the female I am interested in.

Flirting is easy, depending on the women and what kind of girl she is.

Perhaps, sending her memes relevant to things she likes? Telling her theres a women that looks like her wherever you are at the time.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of texting unless it’s to set up logistics for a date or friend gathering. Trying to have personable conversation is not necessarily difficult but a lot gets lost in context. I suggest using emojis to express feelings/sarcasm/etc. (don’t overdue it though,1-2 per text is good number). But remember, text conversations should be reciprocal, just like in person conversations. For example: if you’re having a conversation in person and y’all are both lightly touching each other and giggling. That’s a good sign. If you touch her arm and she backs off or finds it weird, then you back off until she’s more comfortable. Same rule is applicable to texting. If she isn’t using emojis while you are, then stop until she does.

It’s good that she initiated daily even after stale conversations (shows she’s interested, or she’s simply dragging you along)

Any time is a good time. I think it’s funny when guys/girls say they’re waiting for the right time to make a move. The “right” time, is when you actually muster up the courage to do it.

“Over text”? My rule is never double text. It shows neediness and insecurity. I only do it if I tell them I will get back to them with information about my schedule or something. Then I text them when I find out. My initial message telling them I will do it doesn’t deem a reply.

Im actually in a similar situation with a girl right now. We’ve been on two dates, and I see her out every once in a while. We don’t talk on a regular basis either.

The best way I’ve found to ask someone out is: take the reigns - have the date already planned out. Rather than saying: “hey let’s hang out Friday” Say: “hey, I’m going to xxx Friday at 8:00pm. Want to join? The more detail you have the easier it is for them to say yes, because it’s very little effort on their part. All they have to do is show up.

I made plans with the girl I’m taking to now to go ace throwing. She ultimately flaked the day before due to work. Which is cool, I played it off like it’s no big deal, because it’s not. Since I already had the time allotted for it and the plans made in my schedule. It made it easy for me to adapt and make plans with some bros instead. An exotic date idea turned into a bro night that was a lot of fun, with minimal effort.

Edit: it’s best to end the conversation rather than have a pointless one.
