I usually open with "so how does this work? Are we dating now?

Most of the time the girl gets that its a joke and plays along. From there is very easy to set up an actual date. If she doesn't get that it's a joke Ill tell her that she was supposed to play along and that small talk sucks. Usually they feel silly and will make a joke about not being sure if I was serial killer or something. Then I'll tell them "nah that's just my sense of humor.. I can tell already we won't get along 😛" then say "too bad, you're cute too".

After that it's usually real easy to get a date

What's worked most for me is saying some kind of date idea right off the bat. One girl's profile said something about dancing, so I asked what kind of dancing she knew. It didn't matter what the answer was, my next message was that we would go dancing.

If you're completely stuck with no knowledge of what she likes, open asking where she'd like you to take her. This one has a much smaller sample size, but it's gotten me the number all 4 times I've used it. The actual date is always coffee, but the idea is to get her to anticipate going out with you. Get the number after her next reply.

Rule 1 and 2 notwithstanding, it doesn't really matter what you say or don't say as long as you aren't being creepy or peppering them with a bunch of messages/questions. In my experience one of two things happens:

1) The conversation begins and flows naturally (you get responses, if not instant ones...people have lives too) to a "let's meet up in real life here's my number" stage.

2) The conversation goes zero to two responses and then dies off of it's own volition and rarely if ever starts back up again.

There is no middle ground. Bottom line is if the chick was interested enough to match you with the intention of going out on a date, you can only talk yourself out of it. If she was never intending to (validation/fighting with her boyfriend/different city) in the first place then she just won't respond and that'll be that. Probably wouldn't have worked out anyway, don't feel bad.

Sometimes it goes very naturally and then goes cold. You've been benched. No problem with this...again probably wouldn't have worked out anyway. If you are not rule 1/2 then there is very little chance even if you got off Tinder and took her out on a date, she'd be as interested in you as you are in her. People that are interested in someone don't just drop them at the first sign of something better.

Nobody is on Tinder for deep, enlightening conversations. Save the long talk for your priest.

The moment a conversation starts going well & flowing, Snapchat close it. It's a far better method of getting to know someone.
