I wouldn't worry about his other options since you only want casual anyway. You don't really know what his situation is...they may not be competition. People often have multiple casual relationships anyway. The trick is to be clear that you aren't looking for anything serious.

Personally if a girl had a lot of options and didnt consider me a potential candidate after interacting with her I would just move on. The key word here is "interacting". I know what this entails for guys but I am not so sure what it's like for girls. The situation and context for each sex is very different so I have no idea what I would do if I was you.
