I've always had a hard time accepting compliments. It was always awkward beyond measure, my body squirming as I was hysterically computing whether to deflect, reciprocate, or discount the praise. Then, I realized that the only proper, confident response is to look the other party straight into the eye and accept the compliment by saying "thank you." It made all the difference.
